The sequel to the 2018 horror-comedy sensation, Stree 2, has proven to be a box office phenomenon. Within just ten days of its release, the film has collected an astounding ₹341.65 crore in India, cementing its status as one of the biggest hits of the year.
Strong Second Week
Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 saw a remarkable surge in box office collections during its second week. Unlike the usual trend, the movie experienced a 4.17% growth on its second Friday, earning ₹17.5 crore.
The momentum continued through the weekend, with Saturday’s earnings reaching an estimated ₹32.5 crore. By the end of the tenth day, the film had amassed a total of ₹341.65 crore in the Indian market.
Impressive Opening Week
The foundation for Stree 2‘s success was laid in its first week, driven by strong word-of-mouth and a high level of anticipation. Paid previews alone brought in ₹8.5 crore, and the official release day on August 15th saw a massive ₹51.8 crore in earnings. The film maintained a strong pace over the weekend, with collections of ₹31.4 crore on Friday, ₹43.85 crore on Saturday, and ₹55.9 crore on Sunday.
Though there was a slight dip on Monday with ₹38.1 crores, the film remained steady during the weekdays, bringing in ₹25.8 crores on Tuesday, ₹19.5 crores on Wednesday, and ₹16.8 crores on Thursday. By the end of its first week, Stree 2 had already achieved a significant ₹291.65 crore nett in India.
Stree 2 on Track for New Records
The success of Stree 2 not only makes it a box office juggernaut but also sets it up for a historic run. The film is rapidly closing in on the ₹400 crore mark globally, poised to become one of the fastest Bollywood movies to reach this milestone. It outpaces previous blockbusters like Jawan, Animal, Pathaan, Gadar 2, and the Hindi versions of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and KGF: Chapter 2.
With its strong performance at the domestic box office, Stree 2 is expected to continue its dominance. Whether it will maintain this momentum and break additional records remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt that Stree 2 has solidified its position as a major box office force.
