Robert Downey Jr. is going to star in an adaptation of the short story Julianna Baggott, The Hider, for Universal Pictures. This is still in its very early development stages but is already promising after recent success stories starring Robert Downey Jr. in the film Oppenheimer.
Robert Downey Jr. Latest Film Project
Under Universal Pictures, Robert Downey Jr. will headline another major film. Universal Pictures has acquired rights to the very highly acclaimed short story of Baggott, and the studio is eager to move forward with the rest of it with Downey Jr. at the helm.
The film is happening right within the wake of his Oscar-winning role in Oppenheimer.The screenplay of the film is penned by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, well known for their work in Ant-Man and the Wasp, adding credibility and quite a buzz. Their experience promises a dynamic script for this new film.
Team Downey’s Involvement
The Hider, with Robert Downey Jr. as one of the producers, is a Team Downey production company, with wife Susan Downey and Amanda Burrell. Safehouse Pictures will also co-produce, with Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold at the helm. Executive producer aboard is Julianna Baggott, who originally penned the short story.
A Reunion with Universal Pictures
This is the second collaboration with Universal Pictures for Downey Jr. after his recent collaboration in Oppenheimer, which earned him critical acclaim and an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. When speaking with W Magazine about his career-defining roles, Downey Jr. told recently, besides Chaplin, who was the first Chaplin he ever played, Iron Man was the next Chaplin, while Lewis Strauss was the latest of this row.
The interest of an actor in complex characters, especially those concerning very significant historical events, is portrayed in his decision to be part of The Hider. With this movie gearing up for production, the fans will be able to see another powerful performance from Downey Jr.
