A New Dawn in the Apes Saga
The legacy of Caesar, the revered simian leader, has long lingered in the hearts of ‘Planet of the Apes’ fans. Now, director Wes Ball revives the saga with ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’, a film that promises a fresh perspective on the ape-dominated world, set three centuries after Caesar’s demise. The narrative introduces us to Noa, a young chimpanzee hunter portrayed by Owen Teague, and his human companion, Mae, also known as Nova, brought to life by Freya Allan.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Review: The Journey Begins
As the story unfolds, we’re introduced to Noa and his companions on an eagle egg hunt, a serene moment that is soon overshadowed by the ominous presence lurking within the forest’s shadows. Noa’s encounter with a mysterious girl in the woods marks the beginning of a series of harrowing events, including the destruction of his village by a rogue ape clan led by Proximus Caesar, who has perverted the teachings of the late Caesar.
Quest for Vengeance
Driven by vengeance, Noa sets out on a perilous quest to confront Proximus Caesar and liberate his captured kin. Alongside Raka, played by Peter Macon, who shares a similar vendetta against Proximus Caesar, Noa’s journey intertwines with Mae’s fate, revealing her hidden motives and the larger conspiracy at play.

‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ boldly steps away from the shadows of its predecessors, establishing itself as a standalone epic. While it aims to recapture the attention of long-time aficionados and newcomers alike, the film’s narrative struggles to match the depth and innovation of the original trilogy’s storytelling.
